One of the motivating factors of the juicing was watching the documentary, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Laying in bed, nursing a migraine, jaw pain, the chills, and overall body soreness (I surmised these were all symptoms of the beginning of the Master Cleanse), I popped open my laptop to watch anything interesting on Hulu. I came across this film about Joe Cross, an overweight Aussie who goes on a juice-only diet and travels across the US documenting his journey.
Fast-forward three days later. While I am not on a juice-only cleanse, I am predominately juice-only. Today I decided to try Joe’s very own recipe called Mean Green.
2 apples
4 stalks of celery
1 cucumber
1 thumb of ginger
6 kale leaves
1/2 lemon
EH. This actually tasted more earthy than the previous Can’t Beet It juice. It was so, well, repulsive to me, I couldn’t bring myself to finish the 30-ouncer. Maybe it was the kale. Was never big kale fan.
Later in the day, I followed the Mean with the Liver Scrubber.
1 apple
3 beet greens
1 beet
4 carrots
1 celery stalk
1/2 thumb of ginger
This was way better. I thought I’d never, ever hear myself saying, “more beets, please.”
